Explorers need to bring a good number of supplies and equipment when they go on an expedition. If you were to go on an adventure to explore, what ONE thing would you not want to leave home without? Why? Remember, everyone may come up with something different, there is no one right answer.
Homework for Friday, 20th May 2016
If you could choose to go on an expedition anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? Try to be meaningful and briefly expand on your response.
Homework for Friday, 13th May 2016
Why do you think exploration is important? Where do you think we would be without it?
Homework for Friday, 29th April 2016
What are 3 things you are going to try and do this week, outside of school, in the spirit of Earth Week? For example, take shorter showers/baths to conserve water.
Homework for Friday, April 22nd 2016
The character of Kirsti in ‘Number the Stars’ would be 78 years old this year. Knowing what her character was like as a child in the book, what do you think she is like today? Would her personality be the same or would she have changed based on her life experiences?
Homework for Friday, April 15th 2016
Watch the following link (that you saw in class) from the movie “A Goofy Movie” (aka, one of the best movies of all time). The key to this week’s homework is watching it with your family and having a competition to see how many emotions (through body language and facial expressions) each family member can see and record. Let us all know how you did!
Example: “I saw 12 and my mom saw only 2! Some examples would be; surprised, sad, excited, love or crush.”

Weather is something that we experience on a daily basis. Explain how you’ve adapted to the weather in a single day. Why did you have to adapt? What happened? How did you adapt and why? Try explain the weather in explicit detail.
Homework for Friday, April 1st 2016
There have been many co-curricular activities on offer throughout the school year. Explain what your favourite was and why this is the case. If you did not partake in the co-curricular programme, explain what programmes you did in the community and why they are so important to you.
Next week will be spring break and maybe you will be going somewhere or maybe not. The point is that you will be surrounded by people you care about. Explain where you are going, even if you are staying in Vancouver and why these particular people are important to you. Statements like “My parents are important to me because they will be paying for my trip to Hawaii” is not good enough! Please be thoughtful in your response.
Homework for Friday, February 26th 2016
This Wednesday, you are allowed to wear a shirt of a colour that best represents you or because that colour makes you happy. What colour do you think you will choose? Why will you choose that colour?
Being a good human being is something we should all strive for. What is something you have done in the last week or two that has modelled this? What is something you would like to do in the next couple of weeks to model this. For example: I saw someone struggling to open the door with all of the groceries they had in their hands. So I ran up, opened the door with a smile on my face and said: “Have a nice day!”
WEEKLY ASSIGNMENT: Based on your aboriginal studies, which one piece of information have you learned about that you have found to be the most interesting? In a paragraph explain why. Be sure to write a proper paragraph with a topic sentence, supporting details and an effective concluding sentence. |
WEEKLY ASSIGNMENT:
Using great descriptive words, revise the following "paragraph" to make it much, much, better!
The other day I went for a hike. I saw a lot of wild animals. I went home after.
Think about:
-Did I create a picture in the reader’s mind?
-Did I use details that draw upon the five senses?
-Do my details stay on the main topic?
-Did I stretch for details beyond the obvious?

Mmmmmmm Food! Share your absolute favourite food with the class. Imagine yourself eating that particular food,
what does it do to you? How does it transform your state of mind? Do you become different? Describe this experience to the rest of the class WITHOUT BEING SILLY! Visually take the reader into your familiarity with that type of food.
